Product Overview
Iwokrama Greenheart wood is FSC certified, very durable, resistant to most insects, and is highly recommended for marine environments. The wood has a very high Janka hardness rating of 2,530 lbf (11,260 N), which makes it a popular material in the construction of boats and docks.
The management of the Iwokrama Forest involves a polycyclic silvicultural harvesting system: 20 species of trees are chosen for harvest on a 60-year cutting cycle. On average, Iwokrama harvests approximately 1,800ha each year (less than 0.5% of the area) which amounts to approximately 5-6 trees per hectare being removed since no large caps are created in the canopy during this activity.
